A Journey Through the History of the Mustang & The Top Mustang Decals and Stripes for the Last 4 Generations
January 11, 20141999 - 2004
1999 marked the 35th anniversary of the Mustang, and Ford celebrated the occasion in style with a sleek new upgrade on the SN-95 platform. The “New Edge” Mustang was given a sharper design that included tri-color bars on the front fender sides, a honeycomb grille and a rear spoiler. Slim halogen headlights also helped modernize the car’s look while still maintaining its classic style. The New Edge Mustang got a boost in power too, with the vehicle’s 3.8L V-6 engine producing 190 HP and the 4.6L DOHC V-8 putting out 260 HP. With the sleek new design focused around a sharp and aggressive body, a C stripe like this one is a great option for this style of Mustang. It further accentuates the sharpness while adding some flare on its own.
2005 - 2009
The “New Edge” Mustang look carried over until 2005, when Ford unveiled a completely new look for the Mustang based on an all-new D2C platform. Considered a modern day classic from the day it was released, the 2005 Mustang took design inspiration from the original 1960’s Mustangs while rebuilding the car to be “faster, safer, more agile and better looking than ever” in the words of Ford. Ford replaced the 3.6L V-6 Engine with a 4.0L SOHC V-6 engine that brought its output to 210 horse power while the GT Model had a 300-hp 4.6L 3-valve V-8 engine. A simple Mustang fade stripe like this one looks great with this car. While subtle, the fading stripe accentuates the car’s classical design and improved speed.
2010 - 2012
Still working within the D2C platform, the 2010 Mustang took this design to the next level. With a revised interior and exterior, the Mustang was modernized again while maintaining the overlapping themes that were so popular in the previous model. In addition to a new and improved look, the 2010 model added optional add-ons such as voice activated navigation and a backup camera. While the V6 engine stayed the same, the V8 was upgraded to a 4.6L GT that produced 315 HP. A classical Mustang Complete Dual Stripe like this one is a great addition to this version of the Mustang. Bringing back nostalgia from the past on such a new and dynamic take on the Mustang celebrates the heritage of the classical car.
